1. Who we are
“WebsNZ”, “we”, “us” means the operator of websnz.nz, providing domain, DNS, email, web hosting, database and reseller services. Contact: hello@websnz.nz.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email address, phone (if provided), billing address, company details.
- Service data: domain names, DNS records, mailbox metadata, hosting account settings, usage metrics needed to run the service.
- Payment data: processed by our payment provider (e.g. card last-four, transaction IDs). We do not store full card numbers on our servers when using a PCI-compliant processor.
- Technical data: IP addresses, browser type, logs for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
- Support content: messages you send us via email or tickets.
3. How we use information
- To provide, bill and support domains, DNS, email, hosting and reseller services
- To authenticate you and secure accounts
- To meet legal and registry obligations (e.g. domain WHOIS/RDAP where required)
- To prevent spam, abuse, fraud and security incidents
- To improve reliability and communicate service notices
We do not sell your personal information or scan mailbox content for advertising.
4. Email and website content
Content you store in mailboxes, websites and databases is yours. We may process it only as needed to deliver the service (storage, backup, spam filtering, security scanning, lawful requests). Automated spam and malware filters may inspect message or file attributes to protect the platform.
5. Hosting location
We aim to host core services in New Zealand where practicable. Some subprocessors (for example DNS anycast, payment, email delivery relays, or status tools) may process data in other countries under appropriate safeguards.
6. Sharing
We share data only when needed:
- Domain registries / registrars and related industry systems for domain lifecycle
- Payment processors for charging and refunds
- Infrastructure and security vendors under contract
- Law enforcement or regulators when required by New Zealand law
- Successors in a business transfer, with notice where appropriate
7. Retention
We keep account and billing records as long as you are a customer and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, tax and dispute purposes. Backups may lag deletions by a short interval. Logs are retained for security and operations, then rotated.
8. Security
We use access controls, TLS where appropriate, password hashing, and operational practices designed to protect systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please use strong unique passwords and enable any available second-factor options.
9. Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. Contact hello@websnz.nz. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
10. Cookies
We use essential cookies for sessions and security. We may use limited analytics cookies to understand site traffic; where required we will describe these in more detail when enabled.
11. Children
Our services are intended for adults and businesses, not for children under 16.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
